TCAS Training — Course 07 · 3D

RTK-Supported 3D Reconstruction & Terra Processing QC

The dedicated DJI Terra 3D processing and QC course: import a complete RTK-supported dataset, reconstruct it, inspect it against written release gates, and describe the positioning honestly. Course 15 covers the verified DJI Pilot 2 Smart 3D capture workflow that feeds this course.

Included in the Professional 3D Delivery System — $499 ($695 individually), and in the Complete Mastery System ($799 introductory).

Prelaunch: online checkout is not open yet. The complete 15-course Rev. 3 curriculum is written and finalized — join the launch list and we will email enrollment details, pricing confirmation, and availability the moment it opens.

Textured 3D site reconstruction produced by Tri-Cities Aerial Solutions

What You Will Produce

A textured 3D reconstruction from a Visible Light 3D job in DJI Terra, with B3DM, PLY, and OBJ outputs preserved along with MTL and textures, plus a written QC record.

Who This Is For

  • Operators moving from top-down mapping into 3D deliverables
  • Pilots with RTK-capable aircraft who want to use it correctly

Prerequisites & Required Equipment

  • Course 01
  • RTK-capable aircraft and a working correction source
  • DJI Terra with 3D reconstruction

What You Will Learn

  • 3D capture principles: oblique coverage, orbits, and vertical faces — with the verified Smart 3D capture procedure taught in Course 15
  • Why route values stay site- and job-specific rather than a universal numeric preset
  • Running Visible Light 3D in Terra with 3D Mesh ON, Point Cloud ON, Gaussian Splatting OFF
  • Quality High (100%) and Reduce Model 100%, and what those cost you
  • Output formats B3DM + PLY + OBJ and what each is for
  • Inspecting for holes, warping, and double surfaces before delivery
  • Preserving OBJ/MTL/textures and the 3D Tiles/B3DM hierarchy
  • What an RTK FIX actually tells you, and what it does not

Hands-On Assignment

Reconstruct one site in 3D from a complete dataset, document your positioning method, and run the mesh QC gate before you call it deliverable.

Required Final Deliverable / Success Criteria

  • Coverage complete with no missing faces on the primary subject
  • Holes, warping, and double surfaces inspected and noted
  • OBJ/MTL/textures and B3DM outputs preserved together
  • Written capture and positioning record with conservative accuracy language

Planned Course Materials

The complete 15-course Rev. 3 curriculum is written and finalized. Online delivery, downloads, and checkout are being set up now — course files are not downloadable today. Join the launch list and we will email you when enrollment opens.

  • Structured workflow training manual (Rev. 3 curriculum — written and finalized, delivered at launch)
  • Exact verified reference settings, clearly separated from job-dependent decisions
  • Printable field or processing checklist (delivered at launch)
  • Project-folder template with the TCAS naming convention (delivered at launch)
  • QA pass/fail release criteria for the final deliverable
  • Troubleshooting notes from real failures on completed TCAS workflows
  • Planned at launch: practice dataset where licensing allows
  • 3D processing QC worksheet

Paid courses can include a TCAS Certificate of Completion. It is a course-completion credential documenting the workflow you finished and the deliverable you produced — it is not an FAA certificate, surveying license, engineering credential, or any regulatory or professional certification.

An RTK FIX status alone is not proof of validated absolute accuracy. Projects that require survey-grade or control-based accuracy need appropriate ground control, independent validation, and licensed professionals where legally required. Students are taught to distinguish visualization and photogrammetry products from products that require validated survey control or licensed professional sign-off.

TCAS training is independent professional-development training and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the FAA, DJI, QGIS, Blender, Cesium, Apple, or other manufacturers, software providers, or professional licensing boards unless expressly stated. Completion does not grant an FAA certificate, surveying license, engineering credential, or other professional license.
